Jennifer Tatum
Professional Learning Specialist- Literacy & Numeracy
Jennifer Tatum brings over two decades of diverse educational experience to her role as a Professional Learning Specialist at EPIC. Having served in multiple districts across the country, she offers a rich perspective on instructional practice, teacher support, and curriculum implementation. Her most recent roles include serving as both a building-level instructional coach and a district math coach, experiences that deeply inform her work today.
Jennifer specializes in elementary mathematics, science, and STEM, having taught across all elementary grade levels and subjects. She holds a Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership with an Elementary Math Specialization from the University of Louisville—a milestone she proudly achieved while parenting a college freshman. She is also trained in the Orton Gillingham Comprehensive Reading and Morphology courses, further deepening her understanding of how students learn.
Her passion for mathematics education has led her to present at major conferences, including KCM and NCTM, and collaborate with nationally recognized experts like Dr. Jenny Bay-Williams and Dr. Maggie McGatha as part of the Math Achievement Fund initiative.
Jennifer approaches coaching and professional learning with joy, creativity, and a deep commitment to building relationships. She is known for infusing sessions with laughter, interactive challenges, and a focus on collective efficacy among teams. She believes in uncovering educators' individual strengths and supporting them in building sustainable instructional routines that make HQIR implementation practical and effective.
When she’s not supporting teachers, you might find her solving puzzles, tackling home improvement projects, or surprising colleagues with fun facts—like the time she dressed up as the Tasmanian Devil mascot for the 1998 Goodwill Games!
